After the Celtics dealt the No. 6 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft to the Philadelphia 76ers to get Noel, they were believed to be targeting a big man with the pick to help their defense. However, it didn’t take long for them to get a big man. After a deal that sent a No. 1 and a No. 4 pick, the Celtics pulled off a blockbuster deal that sent a No. 6 pick to the 76ers, and an unprotected future first-round pick to the Utah Jazz.
If you follow the NBA at all you know about the beef between Nerlens Noel and Kendrick Perkins a.k.a “Big Snacks”. The two want to get at each other for reasons best known to them. But, if you look deep within the reasons you begin to see the truth behind the beef. The two are the two best defenders in the NBA. When you think about it, defense wins championships. If the defensive side of the game is the true key to winning championships, then you would think that the guys that can stop the other team on defense would be the ones that get the most playing time. Now, if you look at the statistics, that is not the case. The stats show that players that
Celtics forward Kendrick Perkins has apparently taken exception to comments made by teammate Nerlens Noel that at first read, seem to paint Paul as a bad teammate.
Nerlens Noel, a center for the New York Knicks, recently made headlines when he filed a lawsuit against his former agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports. From 2017 through 2020, Noel says he lost approximately $60 million in potential revenue as a result of Paul’s counsel. Kendrick Perkins, the LeBron James whisperer and current sports media figure, took jabs at Noel over the suit from afar.
It’s not the first time Perkins has placed himself in a potentially precarious situation in the context of Klutch Sports. In the past, Perkins seemed to be a bit too passionately capping for Paul and the company’s customers. This time, the ESPN announcer labeled Noel untrustworthy outright.
Nerlens Noel is said to have lost a lot of money as a free agent in 2017.
After Klutch filed a grievance with the National Basketball Players Association, Nerlens Noel decided to sue Paul, according to ESPN. According to the business, Noel neglected to pay Klutch commission on his one-year deal with the New York Knicks in 2020–21. On the $5 million compensation, the commission was $200,000.
Noel alleges in his lawsuit that his former agent, Happy Walters, was offered a four-year, $70 million contract by the Dallas Mavericks in 2017. Noel was a restricted free agent after that season with the Mavs. After meeting at a birthday party in Los Angeles for Paul’s client, Philadelphia 76ers player Ben Simmons, Noel says he dismissed Walters and recruited Paul.
Noel was urged by Paul to turn down the four-year contract. Noel accepted the qualifying offer and inked a $4.1 million contract. As a result, he’ll be an unrestricted free agent in 2018. Noel missed half of the 2017–18 season due to a fractured thumb. He ended up accepting a two-year minimum contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder and then a one-year deal with the New York Knicks.
Klutch, according to Noel, neglected to prioritize him in talks and failed to secure a multi-year contract with Oklahoma City, which Klutch said was in the works. Noel re-signed with the Knicks for three years and $27.7 million with the help of new agent George Langberg. In addition, he has the potential to earn an additional $4.1 million in incentives.
Kendrick Perkins’ name was never mentioned in any of the legal wranglings. But, as is his wont these days, Perkins got himself involved in something that was none of his concern.
Nerlens Noel is accused of being exploited by Kendrick Perkins.
Everyone loves you for the Minimum, from Earth to Nerlens. Rich If Teflon is to our culture, Paul, you’re playing with fire! Continue on your merry way…

Kendrick Perkins made an alarming allegation on Twitter a few days after the ESPN article regarding Nerlens Noel’s lawsuit was published.
Noel replied with passages from a Bleacher Report story about his predicament. Perkins retaliated with a sneer. Noel replied with an emoji of a clown.
Perkins’ schtick is behaving in this manner. He spits out heated takes faster than Skip Bayless or Colin Cowherd.
But, because Perkins isn’t an attorney (and doesn’t pretend to be one on TV), this is one case where the big guy should sit this one out.
Perkins said in 2020 that he is no longer employed with Klutch Sports. So why do you want to be the company’s spokesman for a legal battle that has nothing to do with you?
Perkins has grown in love with the sound of his voice on television, for better or worse. He doesn’t seem to be capable of stopping himself at this point. That’s really bad, since Perkins has some interesting ideas to offer. They become buried in the avalanche of rubbish he throws into the discussion.
Kendrick Perkins was instrumental in bringing Anthony Davis and Klutch together.

In 2019, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin wrote a long article about Anthony Davis’ transition from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Kendrick Perkins, as it turned out, was a key figure in the deal. Davis and Perkins were teammates with the Pelicans in 2015. Around the same time, he was in Cleveland and played with James. Perkins, on the other hand, has known James since they were teens playing for the same AAU team.
Davis was said to be looking for new representation in 2018. Klutch Sports was introduced to him by Perkins. Paul was the one who arranged AD’s tumultuous and public divorce from New Orleans. To remain with the Lakers, Davis agreed to a five-year, $190 million max contract. Is it unreasonable to assume that Perkins received a portion of the $7.6 million commission on that contract? It would, of course.
Not as bad as Kendrick Perkins interfering in Nerlens Noel’s legal affairs, but still inappropriate.
Spotrac provided contract details.
